Excursions will take in the best of the beautiful Somerset area, including a trip on the stream train (April-October) between Bishop Lydeard and Minehead, you travel on this one and a half hour journey through exceptional countryside passing numerous picturesque  villages with the rolling hills of the Quantocks and views of Exmoor in the distance as you travel back in time on this nostalgic journey into the past , you will have time to enjoy the popular resort of Minehead before returning to the hotel.  A second excursion will take in the historic Cathedral City of Wells and the ever popular Cheddar Gorge. Despite a population of under 10,000, Wells possesses one of England's greatest cathedrals, hidden away in the peaceful cathedral close. The charming market square has an unusual fountain and many ancient houses, and a majestic medieval gateway leads to the Bishop's Palace. The highlight of Wells Cathedral is its glorious West Front which houses over 300 statues, making it the finest collection of medieval sculpture in England.
